Picture Perfect Putt 1/365

The day has come for us to "Tee it up" and begin our project 365. Over the last 8 days we have been practicing taking pictures everyday, all counting down towards September 9, 2009 or 9/9/9. Now with our 9th picture, we officially begin project 365.

Lindsay has been the "Key" member of this project for the countdown but to get it officially started, I really wanted to take the first picture. I was traveling this week to Oregon and it was just beautiful travleing across the state. So I called Lindsay Tuesday night and told her, "I am playing golf tomorrow at Pronghorn in Bend, Oregon and I will have plenty of opportunities for the perfect picture to get us started".

My two co-workers, Taylor and Kevin, met me in the lobby at 8:30 AM pacific time and we began the journey from Portland to Bend. The drive was absolutely amazing as we passed through Mt. Hood. After a three and half hour drive, we met our 4th golf member at his work and he led us to the course.

The course was absolutely perfect and had an incredible view no matter where you looked. We played the Pronghorn Fazio course and you can only play it with a club member. There are less than 100 members so usually there are only 10-12 tee times throughout the whole day. We never saw another foursome the whole time we were on the course and it was completely relaxing. And that was with me shooting a 53 on the first nine holes we played.

At the turn, we stopped for a couple beverages and my game started to improve. I began the next nine holes with bogey, birdie, bogey, par and was on my way to breaking 100 (my goal for the day). Leading up to the 8th hole (our 17th of the day), I had a triple bogey, double bogey and bogey over the past three holes and my goal of shooting under a 100 was looking like it would be tough to accomplish if I didn't finish strong.

The 8th hole of the course is the signature hole for Pronghorn. It is a par three that you hit over a canyan. Inside the canyan there are two caves on each side that went into the earth 400-600 feet each. I grabbed my club and swung away, my shot landed on the green and set me up for a birdie putt. It was also the inspiration for the picture of the day.

I missed the putt for birdie but did make par and shot a 45 on the side to finish at 98.
