For the Red, White and Blue 3/365

Friday was 9/11 and all day we were on the lookout for a meaningful picture. As I was driving to work in the morning, I saw a man jogging down the street with an American flag hanging off a pvc pipe over his shoulder. I was turning onto the highway wishing I could pull off the road and snap the picture.
Instead, I headed to work as Tyler headed to Ohio for a weekend with his clients. I worked a half day and met up with my mom to drive to Blowing Rock, NC for the weekend. While my mom and I were walking around downtown Blowing Rock, we stumbled onto these adorable red, white and blue adirondack chairs. I snapped a couple of shots and ended up with a great picture to commemorate the day.

Before checking into the resort at the top of the mountain, we enjoyed wandering through the streets and adorable little shops. It was a great way to start the weekend!

While I was getting settled into a wonderful weekend in Blowing Rock, Tyler was enjoying golf and a night out in Ohio with his clients. We both were on our way to a great weekend!

Hate to See You Go 2/365

Tyler has a very busy month with his traveling for work. He left this week on Tuesday morning and today he is home for less than 24 hours before he leaves again tomorrow morning. He had a great trip to Portland and is looking forward to a football filled weekend in Ohio...but it was great having this Thursday night together. We had spaghetti for dinner and enjoyed a bottle of wine while we caught up on some of our favorite shows. We never look forward to being apart, but sometimes that time makes us appreciate our time together even more.

This coming weekend we will be snapping pictures from different states! Tyler will be enjoying the USC @ Ohio State and Jacksonville Jags @ Indianapolis Colts games and I will be loving a weekend away in Blowing Rock, NC with my mom. It is hard to know what our internet availability will be, so check back on Sunday to see what we end up with.

Picture Perfect Putt 1/365

The day has come for us to "Tee it up" and begin our project 365. Over the last 8 days we have been practicing taking pictures everyday, all counting down towards September 9, 2009 or 9/9/9. Now with our 9th picture, we officially begin project 365.

Lindsay has been the "Key" member of this project for the countdown but to get it officially started, I really wanted to take the first picture. I was traveling this week to Oregon and it was just beautiful travleing across the state. So I called Lindsay Tuesday night and told her, "I am playing golf tomorrow at Pronghorn in Bend, Oregon and I will have plenty of opportunities for the perfect picture to get us started".

My two co-workers, Taylor and Kevin, met me in the lobby at 8:30 AM pacific time and we began the journey from Portland to Bend. The drive was absolutely amazing as we passed through Mt. Hood. After a three and half hour drive, we met our 4th golf member at his work and he led us to the course.

The course was absolutely perfect and had an incredible view no matter where you looked. We played the Pronghorn Fazio course and you can only play it with a club member. There are less than 100 members so usually there are only 10-12 tee times throughout the whole day. We never saw another foursome the whole time we were on the course and it was completely relaxing. And that was with me shooting a 53 on the first nine holes we played.

At the turn, we stopped for a couple beverages and my game started to improve. I began the next nine holes with bogey, birdie, bogey, par and was on my way to breaking 100 (my goal for the day). Leading up to the 8th hole (our 17th of the day), I had a triple bogey, double bogey and bogey over the past three holes and my goal of shooting under a 100 was looking like it would be tough to accomplish if I didn't finish strong.

The 8th hole of the course is the signature hole for Pronghorn. It is a par three that you hit over a canyan. Inside the canyan there are two caves on each side that went into the earth 400-600 feet each. I grabbed my club and swung away, my shot landed on the green and set me up for a birdie putt. It was also the inspiration for the picture of the day.

I missed the putt for birdie but did make par and shot a 45 on the side to finish at 98.

Stare Down -1

We had a late night last night watching the Noles. And Tyler was up early this morning to catch his flight to Portland. So, when I came home from work today and thought about going to the gym...my tiredness took over and won the stare down against my tennis shoes. The shoes will have to wait...this girl is off to bed :)

Lock It Up -2

Yesterday marked a very exciting day in our year...the start of Seminole Football! Tyler and I took our Labor Day weekend crew to Chick-Fil-A for free chicken sandwiches to kick it off. Once they headed home we relaxed for the rest of the afternoon and prepared for kickoff.
We picked up Allison from her adorable garnet and gold house and headed to Brazwell's for a game watching party with the Charlotte Seminole Club. Our new location is great! They turned every TV to our game and we had sound throughout the entire bar. We had a great turnout and it was nice to be among so many NOLES.
Last year on our bus trip to the FSU at NC State game, Christy introduced us to her favorite FSU football catchphrase: Lock It Up. Since that game, there has been no shortage in our use of this term. We use it when we need the Noles to get it together...to make something good happen. Needless to say, when we are all together watching a game, it quickly becomes the best phrase to sum up our night. The Noles played a good game last night. The offense looked better than it has in years and the confidence of our quarterback leaves us excited for the season. It was a late night that ultimately ended in a heartbreaking loss, but we have complete faith that our Seminoles will work hard during the rest of the season to Lock It Up.

Lovely Legs -3

Today we all piled into Tyler's convertible and headed to Lazy 5 Ranch up in Mooresville. Tyler and I have gone on this adventure before and Noah has been on the wagon ride, but everyone was definitely in store for a treat! The place was packed when we got there but we finally got on our way. We got off to a bit of a rocky start with some very big animals at the entrance, but once we got past them, it was almost smooth saililng from there. We had a fun day feeding the animals and taking pictures. We ended up with a bunch of great ones but picked this one for todays photo.

The picture below came in close second. In the midst of all the chaos, this picture somehow captures a calm in the storm. Check back tomorrow for more pictures from our day!

Failed Detour -4

We got up this morning and drove to Mocksville to pick up our cousinds Haley and Noah for the weekend. We got back to the house and while Tyler and Noah broke in the new Guitar Hero 5, I headed to shop for food for the weekend with Tracy and Haley. We stocked up on groceries and as we were heading home, we drove right past our daily photo op. Before Tracy and Haley realized what we were doing, I had stopped the car, put it in reverse, and pulled up to take a picture. This made me smile :)

We headed back to the house and watched Noah and Tyler rock out for a little bit before lunch. We all made sandwiches and spent some time hanging around the house before heading to the movies in the afternoon. Tyler and Noah went to see G.I. Joe and the girls saw The Time Traveler's Wife. Everyone really enjoyed the movies! We came back to the house and threw some burgers on the grill for dinner. We are spending a relaxing night in and are looking forward to our adventure at Lazy 5 Ranch tomorrow!!
