Sweet Seventeen 248/365

We woke up early on Friday morning so we could make one of the first Fenway tours. We met at the store across the street from the ball park and enjoyed getting to know our great tour guide. He took us all through the stadium and in honor of our anniversary date, I grabbed this picture of the back of one of the seats.

Then we headed into the press box since there wasn't a home game and listened to great stories about the park and players of years past. The picture below from inside the press box shows the red seat in the right field bleachers that commemorates the longest homerun ever hit into the Fenway bleachers...a homerun hit by the great Ted Williams.

 Our brilliant attempt at a self-portrait :)
After leaving Fenway, we took the T back towards our hotel. Our bags were there and we had a little time to grab lunch before we needed to catch our bus to the Martha's Vineyard ferry. We grabbed a quick and tasty bite at Haru which was a fabulous Asian fusion restaurant we stumbled onto.
After lunch, we grabbed our bags and caught our bus to catch the ferry....wheew! It was a short and windy ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard and we decided to enjoy the fresh air and the view from the front of the boat.
SO much beautiful blue!!
I grabbed this one as we were pulling into the island. I thought it looked like a postcard...

We got checked into our adorable Inn and even upgraded to a suite for our anniversary. We walked down to the water and grabbed a few drinks and a quick appetizer to tide us over until dinner. We walked through Edgartown a little before getting unpacked and ready for the night. We went to a great restaurant a couple blocks away and cozied up in the lounge upstairs. We shared a bag of fried oysters and an order of truffle risotto balls....they turned out to make up our second favorite meal of our entire trip! We talked all night and enjoyed the laid back island crowd and great food and drinks.

Terrific Truffles 247/365

We were SO excited about our trip to Boston that we packed up on Wednesday night, and hurried to bed so Thursday would come faster. We were SO excited that we forgot to take a picture on the final night of our countdown. But, after an entire day of work we finally met at the airport. We checked our bags and waited in the extra long security line. I grabbed a quick book in the airport and off we went to wait at the gate. We had an easy flight to Boston and caught a cab to our hotel where we were going to have our first dinner at Legal Seafood. The entrance to the restaurant was conveniently connected to our hotel so while the Celtics played on every TV we could see, we enjoyed stuffed shrimp and fried softshell crabs. Then, for a quick sweet nibble, we got an assortment of ice cream truffles that were FABULOUS!

There's nothing like a full week of anticipation and a whole day at work followed by a plane flight to get you overly excited by something like a touch screen soda machine...pictures were obviously necessary!

We watched the end of the basketball game surrounded by Celtics fans and headed to bed because we had a big day ahead of us!

Tea Party 245/365

When would a picture of our tea pot ever be relevant?? When we were counting down the days until our trip to Boston of course! Only 2 more days until we were Northeast bound. :)

Boston Bound 244/365

We were leaving for Boston on Thursday after work so, on Monday, we put together an itinerary for our trip. We've always been on relaxing and stationary vacations together so we needed to put all of our travel information together in one place. We had plans to fly into Boston, spend 2 days in Martha's Vineyard, and then another 2 days back in Boston before flying home to Charlotte. There was lots of ground to cover and lots of restaurants to try and sites to see. As of Monday night, we had most of our trip mapped out and we were counting down the days until Thursday!

Toe to Toe 243/365

My wonderful weekend with family was capped off by an awesome Mother's Day Sunday. With neon toes we celebrated our incredible mom and best friend. Most people probably think they have the best mom in the world, but Tracy and I are very content to know we're the only ones who are right about that. :) My uncle Robbie's family came over for brunch and we enjoyed a beautiful day outside. Then Tracy and I packed up Scout and the car and headed back to Charlotte for the night. Tyler made wings on the grill and we enjoyed the end of our weekend together.

Defying Gravity 242/365

We were up early Saturday morning to prepare for 2 very fun days! Tyler was off to pick up Ethan for the BBBS Bowling fund raiser where his team raised tons of money for BBBS of Charlotte and they got to bowl a game with Ethan. After bowling, they even got in a game of laser tag! Tyler dropped Ethan back at home and his friend from St. Augustine, Daniel, came into Charlotte for the night. They grabbed dinner at Blackfinn and watched the UFC fight back up in Hutnersville at the Hickory Tavern. Daniel is living in Chapel Hill now and it has been nice having him close enough that he and Tyler can catch up with eachother on a more regular basis.

While Tyler was staying busy in Charlotte, I headed to Greensboro to spend Mother's Day weekend with my mom. I got in on Saturday just in time to grab breakfast before driving to Durham to see Wicked. My mom and sister had both seen it before, but for my cousin Haley and I...it was our first time! We all LOVED it! The cast was fantastic, the story was fabulous and the music was just incredible. :) We had such a wonderful afternoon and then returned home before heading out for dinner with my dad that night. Another great meal at Imperial Koi...or was it General Choy...and I know we had a very happy momma with both of her girls under her roof on the eve of mother's day.

Solid as Iron 241/365

We hurried home from work on Friday, both looking forward to our date night! We had plans to meet friends for dinner and the opening night of Iron Man 2. We had fun catching up over dinner and arrived early enough to get great seats for the movie. We both LOVED the first Iron Man and had really been excited about seeing the second one. It was a little long but still a good story and a fabulous Robert Downey, Jr. As in the first one, he totally made the movie! We both had early mornings to prepare for on Saturday, so after the movie we headed home for the night.
